"The latest Popstar Hearthrob Thing"

So.... I was dragged to the Justin Bieber Never Say Never movie last weekened.  Yes, yes. I know. It's a miracle I'm still alive.
It was the most boring hour and fourty five minutes of my life.
Not to mention disturbing.
All these fan girls and Moms who are in love with him: "We will be married."
The slow motion, 3D, hair flip that was constantly repeated nearly made me throw up.
The highlight of the movie was a one second glimpse of Chris Pine who, for reasons that cannot be determined, was at Justin's concert.

But Justin seems like a pretty nice kid. I just don't like his music, I'm not a beliber, do not have a "Beiber Fever" and just really don't care.

THIS video however, was better than the movie.   I've watched it twice which is more than I can say for the original.

The Man of Steel

Warning: Nerd!Alert

Holmes, my metabuddy, told me she watched the Christopher Reeves video in Driver's Ed today.
Well, that got me thinking about Superman and those awesome movies.

I love the original supermans.

The cheesy special effects, the hair and clothes, Christopher Reeves...... it's all great. The new movie just doesn't cut it for me.

                                                                        (source)

I mean, yeah, it's all great and all and it has that Corny Collins guy from Hairspray in it, but it's just not as cool.

And he's sort of a creepy Clark Kent.

But I love watching the Superman movies. I'm not sure which one is my favorite. I think it might be the third one.  Where the evil superman is drunk and looking all dingy in the bar and then goes and beats up Clark Kent at the dump.
.....I'm really not sure why I like this one.

And, despite what Holmes may say, I like Lana Lang better than Lois. (Do you like pink?)  And what about the "Love den"?  *shudder*

But anyway, this random, long post is dedicated to Reeves. The original man of steel.

                                                                     (Source)

Because of him, kids grew up flying around with towels pinned to their shoulders and arms outstretched.

Thanks, Reeves. We miss you.

A Confusing Conundrum of Life Saving Importance

This is a public service announcement brought to you by the "I couldn't care less" foundation.  Under no circumstances are you to panic. Just sit back and remain calm and unemotional until after the announcement. Please save any and all questions until after the broadcast,
Thank you.

Hello, people! Do you know what time of year it is? Yes, it is nearly time for Thanksgiving, turkey, families and all that jazz, but I'm talking about something important.

The Sexiest Man Alive competition.

No, I am not going to show any pictures so don't panic!! Thank you, I knew you were a bit worried there. But don't worry, under no circumstances would I be persuaded to show a picture of Doctor McDreamy or whatever the heck his name is on my blog.

But I do have a little problem with this competition. It's not that I object to who they chose, (It's the guy from 27 Dresses, isn't it? What's his name?)

But it says "Sexiest Man Alive"
Um.. is it just me, or am I the only one who sees the problem here?

ALIVE.

..no, this is not a rant about how my vote would be for fictional characters
But what happens to all the other guys that were voted the hottest? Wouldn't you technically have to kill the previous sexiest man alive to be the new one? Because as far as I know, George Clooney, Johnny Depp and all the other celebrities are still alive and would still technically hold the title unless they were dead.

Do you get it? Does it bother you?  It bothers me.

A lot.

So this Thanksgiving, I want you to be grateful that we have not had  a Hollywood massacre. And to show this thanks,  the next time you go to the store and are in the check out lane and see the cover of the magazine, I want you to scream, "Thank goodness he is still alive!!"

It will help me and the magazine editors feel better.

Breakfast of Champions

I would like to speak to you today on a subject that is very dear to my heart.

Well, down a little bit and in the center if you want to be anatomically correct.
I'm talking about food.
Not just any food.
Toast.

I love toast. A lot. And look! That toast winks at you!!
D'aw..

Toast is a wonderful substance.  I eat it almost everyday.   It is a world known food item! It brings us together at the breakfast table! And, I'm pretty sure that most countries would accept toast as a peace offering, don't you?
But today, I am not here to talk to you about feeding the U.N toast for breakfast.
I am here to talk about the cultural impact toast has on our lives.

We see it in comic strips.

                                                                                (Source)
And even toast masquerading as superheroes.
Simply inspirational.

May the toast be with you.

Is toast going to take over the world? Are we all going to become slaves to square shaped pieces of wheat ground fiber?!

Why yes, I do believe we are.
I call it "The Toast Revolution."
Join now, or reap (get it? Reap?) the consequences later.

We hear of toast in song.

Hoops & Yo Yo and the weird guy who I can't name song about toast being some of my favorites.

Inspirational toast songs have gone International.

Emilie, this video is for you.   You enjoy the random, the weird and well, this song fits it.

It's soo weird, it's even in a different language. *waggles eyebrows* How's that for bizarre?
Since I do not speak the language he is singing in this, all I caught was something about toast and at the very end of the video, is he talking about 'The light?'

I don't get it either.

I lost it when he started dancing.
Is he supposed to look like a typewriter?

But apples and oranges, let's not worry about such trivial things as this foreign music video and its disturbing dance moves. Never mind the stare down you receive at 2:05 or the super slick move he does when he whips out a spatula.

Just watch the video and enjoy the wonderful language of toast

In My Absence....

I've felt missed.

Truly and deeply.

I was even sent an e-card with a frightening puppy panting like it was having a heart attack to welcome me back.*

Where have I been?
Well, lots of places.
In the sun, where I went fossil hunting and found a pile of discarded drug needles instead.
In a blizzard and nearly a car accident.
In the car in a canyon in the rain with a picnic.
In a 3-D movie, where I missed the first five minutes and all the previews.

And..
Wait for it.
No, I'm not going to say in loooovveee. Like you are all expecting me to.
Well, sort of.
If falling in love with a book character for the umpteenth time counts as love.
But I don't think so.

I tried!! I honestly wasn't going to talk about this book until I was finished with the series! I was even trying to keep this post Sherlock Holmes free!!
..epic fail with that.

I love these books.
You should all read these books.
That's all.
I won't rant and go all literary freak on you about how wonderful their word usage was. How this is totally awesome and that I count it as a continuation of the original canon and 100% buy into the Conan Doyle theory they mention.
I'm not going to tell you that.
Nor, am I going to let my girl side kick in and shout from the housetops about how utterly adorable Sherlock Holmes was. And how I nearly died when he...
oh wait.
I'm not telling you.

*evil grin*
I guess you'll just have to read it yourself to find out.

*Haha! Just kidding about the card, Percival.
It rocked.

A Plethora of Paranoia

There are little things in life that bother me.

Lowe's commercials,  shopping and grammar error filled articles are not some of them.

But this, this goes too far.

You do not mess with my 80's music.

Glee, [help us all,] that show scares me.
HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT THEY DID TO BILLY IDOL!!?!

Their version of Dancing With Myself is positively terrifying. I made it only 25 seconds listening to it and that was nearly killing me.

I dare you to see how long you can go for without your eyeballs bleeding.

*Gag*

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go listen to the real Billy Idol. I need to restore my hearing.

A Dedication

To all you writers out there.....
Don't give up.
Yes, writer's block can beat us down, we may go through manic phases, be tempted to print all our stories just to burn them, but still, we make it through.
PERSEVERANCE!!!
And then, and then my dear fellow writers!!! A break through! A sudden pinpoint of light that broadens your mind and expands all the creativity you thought you had lost! You go crazy! You spend every moment of your day writing furiously on anything that allows so much as a crayon. Ideas pour forth into a beautiful waterfall of imagination. You spend time creating cheesy analogies like the one I just said and day dream over random things like, who was the first person to be 'thrown under the bus' for that expression to get started?
But this dedication is for you my fellow writers, and to commemorate this, I have a little song:

You know our love was meant to be
The kind of love that lasts forever (until the next writer's block)
And I want you here with me (Stay Inspiration! Stay!)
From tonight until the end of time (Well.. curfew is 10:00)
You should know, everywhere I go
Always on my mind, in my heart in my soul

EVERYBODY NOW!

You're the meaning in my life!
You're the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life!
You're the inspiration!

Wanna have you near me
I wanna have you hear me sayin':
No one needs  you more than I need you

So that's it dear writers! Go forth! Write!!
And remember.....
You are the inspiration.

How To Train....

Your emotional girly self not to cry over animated movies.

I watched How To Train Your Dragon over the weekend. Twice. The first time, I was with Holmes and we ate a whole container of popcorn and M&M's and then there was an accident involving her dog and guacamole. So I was ok that time.  No tears!
The second time, was yesterday. And for some reason, don't make fun of me- I teared up at all the 'beautiful parts'.  By the time we got to the end of the movie, where that thing happens, I'd lost it and was crying quietly and trying to hide my tears from the rest of the family and wipe them on a green velvet blanket. (Water and velvet do not go well.)

I tend to cry in animated movies more than any other genre.

I cried through Up. In the movie theater. With my Mom.

I bawled through Toy Story 3. Joining half the theater audience in tears as Buzz and Woody prepared to face the end together in the incinerator and then waved goodbye to Andy as he headed off to College.

I also tend to cry in the sequels of the Lilo & Stitch movies. But that's not always a given.  So now that my true movie watching self is feeling like Dumbledore in Harry Potter Puppet Pals, let's change the subject.

I laugh at all the random scenes in movies.
The ones that aren't supposed to be funny.

Like in Indiana Jones and The Raiders of The Lost Ark  when Indy threatens to 'blow up the ark' with this really deep manly voice. Or the Nazi car chase scene. But my favorite part, has to be when creepy bald headed Nazi man is on the screen. One look and I'll start laughing. Like when he burns his hand or gets out his nunchuck coat hanger thing.

So... do you get the point?  I have a very odd sense of humor.

To further prove the point, I have a youtube video for you.

Groovin with Ken

*Snicker* I'm going to see if I can quote this to anyone today.

It's a nerd, nerd world

What has happened to today's world? Why are we all obsessed with the most random things? Granted, I have my share of obsessive things, but we won't list them. Here. It would take to long.  As many of you know, I switched rooms and am now in the basement. Well, I had to say goodbye to my lovely built in bookcase and now have two little shelves to put all my books on. I'm not sure how I will get them all to balance on there, so I looked into bookends.
..... It went down hill from there.

ALL I WANT IS SOME COOL, BASIC BOOKENDS!!! IS THAT SO HARD TO ASK FOR!?!?!

Apparently so.

Really? Really people? Yes, Superman and Batman are cool. Yes, I like superheroes. BUT DO I NEED THEM COMPRESSING MY LITERATURE BETWEEN THEM!?!? No, I don't think so.

And this was sort of cool. I mean, Han Solo is pretty awesome.  BUT STAR WARS?!! MESSING WITH MY LITERACY VOLUMES?!!?! NUH UH! YOU DO NOT GO THERE.
Star wars is just too much. I can't handle it. That just screams geek.
Run. Run far, far away.

Or, I have a better idea. Let's stand up for the poor, abused bookends. Bookends are supposed to be dignified, to speak words of knowledge and intelligence about its owners. Not... that... whatever that is.
I would use those bookends for my movie collection. Which I organize according to color. And no, that is not OCD.
So what do we have to say to those poor little bookends? "We're not gonna take it! We're not gonna take it! We're not gonna take it anymoooooore!!"

Stand up for the bookends! Fight! Win!

For those of you interested in the Nullify Emo Retarded Despicable bookends (N.E.R.D) foundation  you can contact me in the basement where I will be organizing my DVD collection.

The latest obsession

Scene: A dank, dimly lit interrogation room. One light bulb flickers over the fold out plastic table.

Alright, I'll confess!!!!

...I have a new obsession.

It's great. It's wonderful. It's brobdingnagian.

I have fallen in love with the brilliant, devious, oh so handsome Sherlock Holmes.
Not the new version, mind you. (Please no more Robert Downey Jr.!!!) But the newer version by the BBC. It's pretty cool. And creepy. And Moriarty is all wrong.
But I like the books even better.  Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was brilliant!!  I was talking to my Latin teacher today and she said that some Sherlockians have the theory that Sherlock had aspergers.  Isn't that an intriguing idea? He was so OCD over things, that it might be possible.  I love his thoughts on exercise. Less is more! Ya know, I'm pretty sure if I was living in Sherlock's time, we would be pretty tight. ;)  We seem to have similar personalities. But if Holmes and I weren't best of buds, I'm pretty sure Watson would come through for me.
Watson is adorable.
It's a known fact.
I love his character and the way he is always there for Holmes. And the fact that he has a limp just increases his adorableness. Oh, and he's a doctor. Have I mentioned that I love doctors?

So to help you get into my Sherlockian mood, I have some pictures for you. And I realized I need to start sourcing these... so all are found on deviantart.com. If you want links, ask me.

Give it a moment. You'll get it.

This is Watson. Feel free to 'awww'

This is the BBC version of Sherlock Holmes. He looks the exact same in real life.

Oh, and can someone explain this to me? I don't know why I think it's so funny.

Ok, well that's all I have to say on the subject at present.   Now, for Sheerluck (Tee hee hee)

One final message,

THE DANCING MEN ALPHABET!!!!
*Collapses in  a fit of nerd glee*
Enjoy!

Moving in

So big changes coming up! I am moving from my lovely room with the big window down into the deep reaches of the basement. Since the basement is a 70's style dungeon, we're remodeling. Believe me, it  needs it. The wallpaper is not pretty and so dusty, I got a lovely reaction to it.
So don't try peeling wallpaper off walls without some type of decent oxygen mask.

So here's the thing.  My Mom did not like my idea for doing the bathroom this way:

She doesn't think the periodic table of elements is a suitable shower curtain. Sheldon has one, why can't I?!
.... And just in case you're wondering, she also said no to the 'Top 500 words on the SAT' curtain too.

Rats.

So while looking for cool room themes, I came across these lovelies:

Batman AND Superman! How cool is that!!
...Very puerile I know, but I liked the wall mural in the background.

And if that wasn't enough comic junk for ya, just try this! Guaranteed to make anyone dizzy if stared at long enough.

I had no intention whatsoever of bringing Star Trek into this at all! I'm on a superhero kick and wasn't thinking about starships or Vulcans or anything like that!
..Promise.
But then, I found this:

This is over the top. Way, way over the top. I could not have a room like this at all. It was still cool though and I laughed really hard when I saw the colors of the random water bottles they have sitting on the table. Subtle color coordination let me tell ya.

But here's the.... awkward part. *Cough*

I could go for this. It's pretty sweet. Though Nimoy is rather creepy. I'd rather have the Zachary Quinto one.

If not having a freaky old Nimoy with eyes that look everywhere in the room isn't disturbing enough, try this:

DOES THAT NOT STRIKE TERROR IN YOUR HEART?!!?!

"Look Tommy, we bought you your favorite Star Trek character stickers to go on your wall! Isn't that cute? But here's the thing, Tom, about assembly...
NIMOY IS A FREAKY DISEMBODIED HEAD FLOATING IN THE AIR!!!

But don't worry. We'll just peel him off the sticker sheet and then somehow put all the hacked off appendages together. Isn't that grand?"

*Snicker* You could mess with that.....  Spock got caught halfway between those swishy doors and.. um..  You can let your imagination fill you in on the rest of that story.

Castle countdown

It's September. The leaves begin to turn, the air turns crisp and chill. What could be better?

Perhaps a little murder?

Uh, no. I don't plan on killing anyone. Murder is bad. B.A.D.

Rick Castle seems to think so too, that's why he's coming back September 20, with his brand new fall season!!
                                                                    *Cheers*

I LOVE Castle!!
...Granted some of the episode scare me to death... but that's besides the point.

I'm hoping to see a little bit more romance between Beckett and Castle this season, and I've heard Esposito might be getting a crush too.  *Grin*

So what do I plan on doing until the Castle premier? I am going to eat one Snicker's bar (or one Oreo, I haven't decided which) until that fateful night. And then I think I'll watch the premier with my boyfriends, Ben and Jerry.

It's gonna be sweet.

Ironic. Irony. Hilarious.

So I was sitting at my desk with the window open and studiously studying my Latin words. (You like that? Studiously, studying.)
I had just translated this sentence: "Immodica ira creat insaniam."  (Excessive anger creates insanity) when a car drove by, it was some kid driving and talking on his cell phone. He was ticked at whoever it was on the other line and used the "F" word about three times in  a row.
...I think he needs that quote.

And I think I need a new sense of humor if the first thing I think is, "That was funny, let me go put that on my blog."
Here is my other favorite Latin sentence of the day:
"Nulla avaritia sine poena est."

Any guesses?
"No greed is without punishment."

Hey... I wonder how you say "Live long and prosper" in Latin? I am going to ask my teacher tomorrow.
And since I'm feeling suddenly very nerdy and quite Spockish I will give you my apology for the sporadic Latin lesson in intelligent vernacular.

Since you are probably all appalled at my academic glee, I will not be hortatory in asking you to join my nerdy faction though I might become a bit maudlin. But that is not my subjunctive at this current moment in space time.

...Yes, I did say "Space time". Why?

Query

Do these images contradict one another?

I couldn't decide. Because in the first one, you're almost apologizing for being such a nerd, while in the other one, you're like, "I'm a geek and I love it."

This picture is just random.
'What happens when milk goes bad'
Tragic really.

I just really liked this picture. I think it's cute. I mean, c'mon! Who doesn't want a little mad hatter guy in your head?!

As you can tell, I've been sort of bored since school hasn't started for me yet, but since y'all are stuck doing boring desk work, I think I'll just hang around here and write some more stories.

Life is blissful

Doctor Horrible

Ok, so there is this guy on youtube and he calls himself Doctor Horrible.  He's an evil scientific genius (Or so he thinks) and is in love with this girl but he can't tell her how he feels.   Aw... ok, so anyway he is just super cute.  I didn't post the whole video, just the song, so tell me what you think!!  Personally, I am grooving the safety goggles.

Extraordinary Measures

I watched a movie last night.
A movie with Brendan Fraser and Harrison Ford in it. (Double the awesome, I know)

I loved this movie. And  not just because Harrison Ford is a doctor and wears a lab coat. *Melt*
But it was just a really sweet movie and I kept 'awing' and laughing which was slightly awkward as I watched the movie with my parents and was awing at all these random times. *Hint, hint* "Random. Times."

After watching this, I'm not sure I could be a scientist. Math and not getting emotionally attached being the main reasons why. Mostly math.  I hate math.   But that's besides the point.
Harrison Ford handled this role really well and I just loved/hated him in it.  He was such a jerk at times! Ah! I just wanted to smack him upside the head and tell him to go apologize to poor little Brendan. But then at other times, I just loved him and wanted to give him a huge hug.  One thing I wanted to see in the movie didn't happen. I won't say it here to ruin it for those of you who haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm thinking of maybe writing a fanfic for it.
Maybe.

Don't ask..... just please, don't ask.

I am a fan of cakewrecks.com. I love that website and granted, the humor is often pretty cheesy.... but who doesn't like that?
... Don't answer that.

SO.

They had these cakes on their yesterday and I thought it was hilarious.

                                                     *Snicker*  Anatomical humor.

Look!  Get rid of the tie dye and the fact that it's celebrating something and you have a Vulcan cake!
"You are...... tolerable." I wonder if they are fans of Jane Austen? "She is tolerable, but not handsome enough to tempt me."  *Snicker*
Would I be considered "Tolerable"? More like annoying. Incredibly annoying. They would probably get so frustrated with me, that I'd be banished to the ice planet.  Hoth from Star wars if they're feeling really mean. Delta Vega in their own galaxy if they're feeling sympathetic.

Could you imagine if the worlds from Star wars and Star trek collided? It would be hilarious.

"So, Spock,  have you met any of the people from the Star wars galaxy?"

"Yes,  Luke Skywalker. Incredibly friendly, but not the smartest human I have ever met."

...."Uh huh."

Kirk: "You know, Spock, I think we should get some of those cool light stick thingies the Jedi's have.  I mean, we have phasers, and Sulu has fencing and you have that weird... mind melding thing.... but still!  Light sabers! Those would be awesome!"

Chekov: "They have nuclear wessels?"

It would be so cool!  Personally, I am all for the lightsaber thing. Spock and a lightsaber would be pretty intense.

Jealousy

Jwealousy. Jwealousy is what bwings us towgether today.

I am so jealous of those people who get to go to Comic Con.  All the nerdiness!!!  The costumes and the celebrities...and... the nerdiness! (Note the reoccurring theme)

Before I get to carried away with envy, let's think of happier things.

Today is Psych day!!!

I'm not sure who the two people on the right are, but the one on the far left is my favorite.
That's Lassie. Detective  Lassiter. He's awesome.
I like him.
A lot.

                                                             A lot, a lot, alot.

Alert Medical

I watched the season premier of White collar.
You remember what I said about Fan girling?
It can be hazardous to your health.

I was over stimulated by Neal's charming smile and Mozzie's all around awesomeness.
... And spent the rest of the night wondering why we have such things as gag reflexes.

So now I'm sick.
And have spent the day in my pajamas staring at my computer screen.
This is why we have friends to help you feel better.
Friends who send you pictures of sweet action stuff that nearly sends you into another over stimulated state.
Stuff like this.....

Look at that!!! It is so cute!! He looks adorable!!  Aw....  it's just freaking awesome!
And those are some pretty sweet boots.
I need some.

Now, as I have sent myself into another over stimulated state of mind.... Lieutenant, you have the Conn. Alert medical.

I can explain.....

This blog is my brain. Symbolically of course.
It will hold my ideas, rants and all the other nonsensical things that come along in my life. So, for starters, an explanation on why I haven't updated my food blog or my Spock blog for awhile...

The power of procrastination is strong with this one.

That would be why I haven't updated. It explains a lot don't you think?  Besides, I have other things to do. Things like uh... like um...
Important things.
Things like having conversations with myself, or my imaginary friend who I haven't seen a lot of lately. If you see him, tell him I'm sorry for my comment. He'll understand.
I've also been very busy writing short stories. Ask me and I'll send some to you. They are pretty random, but super fun. At least, that's my opinion.
I have an update coming for the Spock blog soon, I promise! So just hang in there!
