Happy Shatner Day!

Captain Kirk is 80 years old today.
 That's ancient.

So to celebrate, we have some wonderful little clips and nerdy things. Let's get started.

I have an odd fascination of staring at his face.  It reminds me of a Ken doll.....

So of course, once you start the party, you need some dance moves:

Wait.. what does the cute British kid in the background have to do with this?
...nothing really. (P.S. Click on photo for animation. You will want to see it.)

So now that we have the whole party thing out of the way, we need to discuss what you are going to wear to the party.
May I suggest the classic yellow shirt?  It's always in style.
(And yes, I made that picture. You are all in awe of my computer skills.)

So you're at the party, and it's starting to get a little wild. The cops show up. What do you do?
You give them THIS excuse. And when lying diplomatically through your teeth doesn't work, you use the Vulcan nerve pinch. Equally as effective and twice as quick.

The party is dying down, you've somehow ended up in a Brawny paper towel commercial  and you've had the time of your life. You meet some girl at the party and you think you're in love with her. You of course tell your best friend the news and he breaks it to ya hard.  For helpful tips on how to tell the news, I suggest THIS method.
Your friend will then proceed to tell you the same fact at least 20 times in 24 hours.
Try to be nice to him. And when you end up crying your eyeballs out, (the Brawny paper towels make excellent tissues) please don't come up with some lame excuse about how we should do it all again.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHATNER!

The Starving Artist

So I had the wonderful idea that I would get in touch with my artsy side.
I went out and bought a canvas and some paints, practiced drawing my idea and then turned on itunes and locked myself in my room for two and a half hours.
Given my family's artistic abilities, I didn't think it would be too hard.

This was the end result.
It tells you two things:
1. I would starve if I had chosen painting as my career
2. I must be adopted.

"The latest Popstar Hearthrob Thing"

So.... I was dragged to the Justin Bieber Never Say Never movie last weekened.  Yes, yes. I know. It's a miracle I'm still alive.
It was the most boring hour and fourty five minutes of my life.
Not to mention disturbing.
All these fan girls and Moms who are in love with him: "We will be married."
The slow motion, 3D, hair flip that was constantly repeated nearly made me throw up.
The highlight of the movie was a one second glimpse of Chris Pine who, for reasons that cannot be determined, was at Justin's concert.

But Justin seems like a pretty nice kid. I just don't like his music, I'm not a beliber, do not have a "Beiber Fever" and just really don't care.

THIS video however, was better than the movie.   I've watched it twice which is more than I can say for the original.

Officially Official

                                 I AM OFFICIALLY COOL!!!

Now, I know this may come as a shock to some of you, but yes, I was not always awesome. ;)
Yes, yes, this is another confession. A deep, dark, super secret confession.
Are you ready?

For years I have had a children's library card.

OH  THE HORROR!!
I know what you are thinking, I thought it too. "How has she suffered through the years?"
I will tell you,my dear reader. It wasn't easy.  I would glumly hand over my little kid card and watch embarrassed as they scanned the card and handed me my copy of The Actor and the Housewife.
But, through much perseverance, I persevered!  (Isn't that redundant?)

And my determination won out in the end!! I  now have my own, my precious, silver, shinny, adult library card!
It is etched with the names of the greats!
Dickens, Da Vinci,  Milton, Tolstoy!
The back, written in Sharpie, is my own name.  My very own,  Not as impressive as those on the front. (I blame the Sharpie, I mean, who can write neatly with a Sharpie!?)  But still.
It has made me very happy.

Oh, and, one of the carts at the library was named Sherlock Holmes.
It totally beats out the Jacob Black cart.
I hope that one breaks a wheel.

So remember, my fellow nerds and avid readers, though it may be hard, that at times it might be difficult, you too, can all be awesome!!

Image brought to you by  THIS person who is also awesome.

I believe the image is encouraging you to go read a book in purple mini shorts. But that's just my guess. Art is so abstract these days.

Darth Vader

...He lied about the cookies.

While still not a huge fan of Star Wars, I do appreciate certain aspects of the movies. (See: Han Solo, Ewoks, C-3po, Raider thingies, Obi Wan Kenobi and light sabers.)
But I especially like the theme song. I can only play the beginning notes on the piano, but am highly entertained by listening to it and walking around the house. (Cape and heavy breathing not included.)

So I thought I would share my favorite Darth Vader things with you today. *grin*
Aren't you excited?

The Darth Vader toaster!! (wait, haven't I already put this picture on here?)  Oh well!!  It adds a little force along with the bran. Enjoy.

The rest of my Darth Vader nerdiness is in the form of youtube videos.

This one has to be my favorite. I love it when he's walking down the hall after the dog.

And everyone appreciates this one.  I love Legos.

Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust

I have another confession to make.
I like fairies.
I begged my sister to watch the new Disney Fairy movie with me and finally watched it last night. We had to use the PlayStation because the DVD player doesn't work and it took awhile to figure out how to use the controller as a remote.
Now, I'm not a huge fan of Tinker Bell, she's too... commercialized. I guess is the word I am looking for. But I've always had a bit of a fascination with the little pixies.  I haven't built a fairy house, or gone searching for them in fairy circles, but I do like to color them. My favorite place to get fairy pictures is at PheeMcfaddlle's website, she draws the most amazing fairies. And I have a collection of them in my room.
Hidden under my bed.

That's all.

The Man of Steel

Warning: Nerd!Alert

Holmes, my metabuddy, told me she watched the Christopher Reeves video in Driver's Ed today.
Well, that got me thinking about Superman and those awesome movies.

I love the original supermans.

The cheesy special effects, the hair and clothes, Christopher Reeves...... it's all great. The new movie just doesn't cut it for me.

                                                                        (source)

I mean, yeah, it's all great and all and it has that Corny Collins guy from Hairspray in it, but it's just not as cool.

And he's sort of a creepy Clark Kent.

But I love watching the Superman movies. I'm not sure which one is my favorite. I think it might be the third one.  Where the evil superman is drunk and looking all dingy in the bar and then goes and beats up Clark Kent at the dump.
.....I'm really not sure why I like this one.

And, despite what Holmes may say, I like Lana Lang better than Lois. (Do you like pink?)  And what about the "Love den"?  *shudder*

But anyway, this random, long post is dedicated to Reeves. The original man of steel.

                                                                     (Source)

Because of him, kids grew up flying around with towels pinned to their shoulders and arms outstretched.

Thanks, Reeves. We miss you.
