Delaying The Inevitable

I get to speak in front of people tonight.
For those of you who know me, you'll realize just what a big deal that is.

I'm talking glossophobia 100%   I fit all the symptoms. Yay. I have a phobia to go along with all my weirdness.

So what do I do when I'm nervous about talking in front of people? Do I go over and write and rewrite my talk? Do I memorize everything I'm going to say?

Nope.

I procrastinate.

And it probably didn't help that I was extremely bored. So while I am counting down the awful hours, I have some YouTube videos that I've been watching to take my mind off the deplorable event this evening.

We are all aware of my Sherlock Holmes obsession. The one that beats my Star Trek obsession into the ground.  So these videos should not be surprising to you in anyway. No, this is not Wassup Holmes again, even though that has to be my favorite YouTube video of all time, these are just random little videos.. that well, my Holmesaholic self finds hilarious.

And I can also blame my amusement on my nerves and the fact that when I found these, I had eaten five chocolate chip cookies.

Oh, and my only explanation for Watson is that my Watson is much better. (Go Jude Law!) so just excuse the teddy bear looking man.  Lemon Tree

Since you are probably all bored/appalled after that one, I won't make you watch my other favorite one unless you really want to. And if you do, it's right here.

And for those of you who have sat through all of this, a more amusing one just for you. Sherlock Holmes and The Safety Dance. You know that as much as your not-nerdy self is rebelling, you really want to watch.
Go ahead. It's right here. And all I have to say for this. 0.5 EPIC WIN! 0.39 LOL!

I think I need to renew these episodes from the library, they look awesome.

I think I need help.

Help.

Shake That Ting

I don't really like dancing.
I like Napoleon Dynamite, Evolution of Dance dancing.

And if it's not freestyle, it's too restrictive. Dance in this square.. hold his hand here... blah, blah, blah.
I JUST WANNA DANCE NOT DO BRAIN SURGERY!

So dancing... not really my thing.

I have a dance this evening- Wait, scratch that, I have a rhythmic ceremonial ritual.  And if I don't go, Holmes is going to go get Darth Vader from Vulcan to melt my brain.

I think I better go.
I like my brain.

And now we enter into the confessional stage of things...

I like Hugh Grant movies.
What does this have to do with dancing?
Well...

Everything. Absolutely Everything.

Have any of you seen this movie? I love this movie. It's probably my favorite of all the Hugh Grant movies I've watched.

And Hugh Grant is adorable in it.  And he can sing! Which makes it even better.

Watch this music video from the movie and realize that I will be dancing the exact same way this evening.

Oh, and please note the date of the music video.  :D

Yummy, Yummy

I don't cook very often.  Partially because I have a rocky relationship with the oven and toast is my best friend.
I had pasta salad last night.
Do you know the pasta salad song? I'll teach it to you!

Well, there are two songs.  One of them is The Wiggles Fruit Salad song. (Yummy, yummy)

And the other song has to do with broccoli.  Because you chop broccoli to put it in your pasta salad.

GO BROCCOLI! GO BROCCOLI!!
*cough*
Anyway...

This is the broccoli song:  (BrOcCoLi)
Holmes, you get  play this on the piano in the lounge.
I get to sing.

Update:
Fine, becaue you people keep asking me,  :)
Here'sthe Fruit salad video.
My favorite part has to be 00.15
The way he says it is hilarious.

I rish....

I have always been proud of my Irish heritage, and all though I didn't inherit the redhead gene, the wonderful curly tangle that is my hair is just as good.
I never really thought much about being related to the Irish people. True, I have always loved bagpipes and absolutely love Irish accents, but other than that, I didn't really think anything of it.
In History, I am learning about the Civil War and just found out about what an influence the Irish had.

I had no idea.

They came to America to escape the tyranny of the English people; but no one would hire them and in order to support their family, they enlisted in the army.

Some of them stepped right off the boats that carried them from Ireland and got right back on another to take them to the military.
The Civil War has always been rather personal to me. I don't know why it is, but I have always felt really connected to that time period.
Learning about the Irish made it even more so.
We watched this video clip and it just made me break down crying.  It was of these two Irish brigades fighting one another. One man  recognized who they were fighting and broke down crying, unable to shoot the people who had been his neighbors and friends.
But being a military man, he was commanded to shoot and gave a few more shots before just sobbing.

So to remember the men that gave their lives during the war, I have a video for you.
...yes, this may be seen as rather obnoxious to be a 'war commemerating' song.
But, it's Irish and made me grin like an idiot the whole way through.

Oh.. and I better explain why I thought this was so funny so you don't give me any comments. (Holmes, Emilie, that means you.)
They just look like they are having so much fun!  And the lead singer's eyebrow that keeps twitching makes me laugh.
You may think me weird for liking it, but whatevah.
I'm Irish. ;)

Writing Woes

                              (Lost the link thing. Deviantart.)

Help me.

In this particular picture you see above, I am feeling like Watson. Well... I always feel like a Watson, but that's just because it's a nickname.  Do  you see the resentful glare? The folded arms, the look of simmering anger? Well take a good look, folks 'cause that mood is changing and now I am going to play Holmes AND START SMACKING HEADS WITH THE RIDING CROP!

Got it?

Do you want to know how we got to this point? Of course you do, I'm the one holding the whip so you get to hear it if you want to or not.

I did school, I had a marvelous day, ate about... four cookies (and counting) and understood my Latin lessons. I was good! I was a diligent student!!  I wanted time to write this evening, I have formulating plans of brilliance that I will lose unless I get it written down!!!
So I wrote one tiny, little story. I was listening to classical music and all calm, feeling creative...

And then my sister and her little friend came in, turned on obnoxious music, started playing some brainwashing child's game and were screaming:
1. At the dog
2. At each other
3. At me

GONE IS THE PEACEFUL, HAPPY CLASSICAL MUSIC (Welcome, Fatboy Slim) and hello to writer's dilemma.

I just want to write a story!! Is that so difficult to ask!!?!?!

..... *Evil light bulb*

"Oh, children!!!- *big fake smile*- "Would you like some candy? Some chocolate? Some SUCKERS!??

"Go fetch, little ones! Go get it! It's out there! No, over there.. by the mud pit, no, no. You've seen The Princess Bride haven't you? It looks like the ones they have in the fire swamp? Yes, that one."

Confession 98734

My first movie crush was Westley from The Princess Bride
...still is actually.

And my first T.V show crush was from.... well... E.R.
I watched that when I was really little too! You would think my first memories of T.V. would be Barney or  or something, but no!  I have vivid memories of watching that show. One of the most vivid memories is when they are trying to save somebody and do the funny little shock things and yell "CLEAR!"
...I've been slightly obsessed with doctors every since.
Hey! Maybe this explains why I laugh so hard whenever I hear "Stat"
..... that show would explain a lot about my personality.
HECK, I even remember the theme song!!
...what's wrong with me?

Ok.. so do you want to see who I had a crush on now? This is actually really embarrassing.... I don't know if I want to tell you. I couldn't have been more than six!!!
...what did I ever like about this guy?

Man.. ok. I can't do this. You will never ever speak to me again.

Um.. just never mind everybody!!   I guess this doesn't exactly count as a full confession now because there are somethings I'm still not telling.

Just... carry on.

 :D Please. Go away.

AH OK! FINE!!!

HE'S BALD FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!! AND HE WEARS GLASSES!!  (Oh.. maybe this was the beginning of the 'nerd' thing)
AUUUUUUUGH!! I NEED HELP!! WHY ON EARTH DID I EVER LIKE HIM!!?!!

*sobbing uncontrollably*

I think I need a therapist.

*Glares* This is all your fault!! I never would have shared this if it wasn't for your curious, evil little mind!!

*Head on desk*   Thank goodness I'm going to go watch some Harrison Ford today.
I need it stat.

Vertigo, where'd he go?

...Holmes, Wonka "Sees you" *Shudder*

I watched Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory in English today. Not the new one, with Johnny Depp, but the one with the bug eyed, old Wonka.  We were watching it because Willy Wonka is very fond of using rhetoric. Yes. Willy Wonka, the chocolate addict uses rhetoric.  Which is really hard to believe when you watch this video

I caught the flu again, but am feeling much better today. It gave me a chance to finally finish all of the Sherlock Holmes books. (That will get a separate post all by itself, believe me)  So beside modelling the latest grunge look, I haven't done much.

I am just telling you this so as to give me an excuse for what I am about to tell you.

Willy Wonka nearly always gets my mind spinning in random circles and today was no different.
I have the sudden desire to write a Star Trek meets Willy Wonka fanfic and run it along the lines of Spock's worst nightmare.
MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

                                                               Huh?

Doesn't that sound special!?  In order to pull it off, I'm gonna need lots of chocolate, my 'stretchy pants', a few  late night hours and 80's music; oh and Green Lantern's power ring. Miracle Max's holocaust cloak wouldn't be too shabby either.

So if I end up pulling this new bizarre story off, I'll let you know.
