Hard To Express

I don't really have words for this post. This boy can explain it better than I can. Please watch his videos. They have a message I think we all need to hear.

Falling Slowly

I am three hours away from an event I have counted down to since September.
And how I do I feel about it?
Nervous, to be honest.
What if it's not what I expected? What if I'm bitterly disappointed? What will I countdown to next?
I guess life is like that. So much has changed since I've blogged last. I feel like I've grown up a lot. I see things differently.  We spend our whole lives waiting for these landmarks. Sweet sixteen, high school, college, marriage... but when it happens, do we so much as give it a second thought? Or is it something we can just check off the list before getting onto the next thing?
It's like falling slowly. I'm moving through water and watching all these individual droplets fall past me. Each drop is a memory; an experience. I can't tell if I'm falling up or down and everything is like trying to see through the frosted glass on a windshield. I can't see clearly; things are blurry. Day to day life drags so slowly, but the big picture is nothing but a jumble of colors splattered across the blank canvas of life.
Why don't we slow down, take things the way they are? Why are we constantly searching for that next high, the next big thrill? What's wrong with the ordinary; the basic? Let's take Coldplay's advice and just go back to the start.
~Feeling a little nostalgic and homesick for the life I never knew I missed,

"O" Is For Oprah

I must admit I have mixed emotions about Oprah's show ending.  *Sound of brakes screeching*

What? You didn't think I cared about Oprah?

Watching a show that has been around longer than I've been alive does give it a bit of sentimentality. But I didn't cry at the end just in case you're wondering.

I guess I just expected the show to keep going. Well, at least until I got on there to talk about my bestseller book release. :D  I mean, c'mon! What talk show am  I supposed to go on now?

But since writing a book takes awhile and it takes longer still to reach Oprah show fame, by the time I probably got to go on any sort of talk show we would all be watching it in 3D from the comforts of our living rooms. So don't expect to see me on T.V. any time soon. Unless I do something incredibly awesome. (Or stupid, but that's not really in the plan.)

Ah, Nostalgia

Arthur has been my favorite kid show for years. Hannah Montana and Zack and Cody have nothing on that cute little aardvark.  The problem is, Arthur is no longer about snowball stealing aliens or watching the latest episode of Bionic Bunny.  Instead, we have episodes on how to deal with social problems and what happens when Binky cheats on a test.
0_0 Really, people?
What happened to T.V. that was just entertaining? I didn't watch Arthur because it helped me make friends, I watched it because it was funny and I liked it.
So imagine my joy when I came across my favorite episode online. They don't play the old episodes anymore and I think that is such a disappointment.
I will post the episode so you can watch it and reminisce over old times.

Is it just me, or was the Jekyll-Hyde song scary to watch as a little kid?

Happy Shatner Day!

Captain Kirk is 80 years old today.
 That's ancient.

So to celebrate, we have some wonderful little clips and nerdy things. Let's get started.

I have an odd fascination of staring at his face.  It reminds me of a Ken doll.....

So of course, once you start the party, you need some dance moves:

Wait.. what does the cute British kid in the background have to do with this?
...nothing really. (P.S. Click on photo for animation. You will want to see it.)

So now that we have the whole party thing out of the way, we need to discuss what you are going to wear to the party.
May I suggest the classic yellow shirt?  It's always in style.
(And yes, I made that picture. You are all in awe of my computer skills.)

So you're at the party, and it's starting to get a little wild. The cops show up. What do you do?
You give them THIS excuse. And when lying diplomatically through your teeth doesn't work, you use the Vulcan nerve pinch. Equally as effective and twice as quick.

The party is dying down, you've somehow ended up in a Brawny paper towel commercial  and you've had the time of your life. You meet some girl at the party and you think you're in love with her. You of course tell your best friend the news and he breaks it to ya hard.  For helpful tips on how to tell the news, I suggest THIS method.
Your friend will then proceed to tell you the same fact at least 20 times in 24 hours.
Try to be nice to him. And when you end up crying your eyeballs out, (the Brawny paper towels make excellent tissues) please don't come up with some lame excuse about how we should do it all again.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHATNER!

The Starving Artist

So I had the wonderful idea that I would get in touch with my artsy side.
I went out and bought a canvas and some paints, practiced drawing my idea and then turned on itunes and locked myself in my room for two and a half hours.
Given my family's artistic abilities, I didn't think it would be too hard.

This was the end result.
It tells you two things:
1. I would starve if I had chosen painting as my career
2. I must be adopted.

"The latest Popstar Hearthrob Thing"

So.... I was dragged to the Justin Bieber Never Say Never movie last weekened.  Yes, yes. I know. It's a miracle I'm still alive.
It was the most boring hour and fourty five minutes of my life.
Not to mention disturbing.
All these fan girls and Moms who are in love with him: "We will be married."
The slow motion, 3D, hair flip that was constantly repeated nearly made me throw up.
The highlight of the movie was a one second glimpse of Chris Pine who, for reasons that cannot be determined, was at Justin's concert.

But Justin seems like a pretty nice kid. I just don't like his music, I'm not a beliber, do not have a "Beiber Fever" and just really don't care.

THIS video however, was better than the movie.   I've watched it twice which is more than I can say for the original.

Officially Official

                                 I AM OFFICIALLY COOL!!!

Now, I know this may come as a shock to some of you, but yes, I was not always awesome. ;)
Yes, yes, this is another confession. A deep, dark, super secret confession.
Are you ready?

For years I have had a children's library card.

OH  THE HORROR!!
I know what you are thinking, I thought it too. "How has she suffered through the years?"
I will tell you,my dear reader. It wasn't easy.  I would glumly hand over my little kid card and watch embarrassed as they scanned the card and handed me my copy of The Actor and the Housewife.
But, through much perseverance, I persevered!  (Isn't that redundant?)

And my determination won out in the end!! I  now have my own, my precious, silver, shinny, adult library card!
It is etched with the names of the greats!
Dickens, Da Vinci,  Milton, Tolstoy!
The back, written in Sharpie, is my own name.  My very own,  Not as impressive as those on the front. (I blame the Sharpie, I mean, who can write neatly with a Sharpie!?)  But still.
It has made me very happy.

Oh, and, one of the carts at the library was named Sherlock Holmes.
It totally beats out the Jacob Black cart.
I hope that one breaks a wheel.

So remember, my fellow nerds and avid readers, though it may be hard, that at times it might be difficult, you too, can all be awesome!!

Image brought to you by  THIS person who is also awesome.

I believe the image is encouraging you to go read a book in purple mini shorts. But that's just my guess. Art is so abstract these days.

Darth Vader

...He lied about the cookies.

While still not a huge fan of Star Wars, I do appreciate certain aspects of the movies. (See: Han Solo, Ewoks, C-3po, Raider thingies, Obi Wan Kenobi and light sabers.)
But I especially like the theme song. I can only play the beginning notes on the piano, but am highly entertained by listening to it and walking around the house. (Cape and heavy breathing not included.)

So I thought I would share my favorite Darth Vader things with you today. *grin*
Aren't you excited?

The Darth Vader toaster!! (wait, haven't I already put this picture on here?)  Oh well!!  It adds a little force along with the bran. Enjoy.

The rest of my Darth Vader nerdiness is in the form of youtube videos.

This one has to be my favorite. I love it when he's walking down the hall after the dog.

And everyone appreciates this one.  I love Legos.

Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust

I have another confession to make.
I like fairies.
I begged my sister to watch the new Disney Fairy movie with me and finally watched it last night. We had to use the PlayStation because the DVD player doesn't work and it took awhile to figure out how to use the controller as a remote.
Now, I'm not a huge fan of Tinker Bell, she's too... commercialized. I guess is the word I am looking for. But I've always had a bit of a fascination with the little pixies.  I haven't built a fairy house, or gone searching for them in fairy circles, but I do like to color them. My favorite place to get fairy pictures is at PheeMcfaddlle's website, she draws the most amazing fairies. And I have a collection of them in my room.
Hidden under my bed.

That's all.

The Man of Steel

Warning: Nerd!Alert

Holmes, my metabuddy, told me she watched the Christopher Reeves video in Driver's Ed today.
Well, that got me thinking about Superman and those awesome movies.

I love the original supermans.

The cheesy special effects, the hair and clothes, Christopher Reeves...... it's all great. The new movie just doesn't cut it for me.

                                                                        (source)

I mean, yeah, it's all great and all and it has that Corny Collins guy from Hairspray in it, but it's just not as cool.

And he's sort of a creepy Clark Kent.

But I love watching the Superman movies. I'm not sure which one is my favorite. I think it might be the third one.  Where the evil superman is drunk and looking all dingy in the bar and then goes and beats up Clark Kent at the dump.
.....I'm really not sure why I like this one.

And, despite what Holmes may say, I like Lana Lang better than Lois. (Do you like pink?)  And what about the "Love den"?  *shudder*

But anyway, this random, long post is dedicated to Reeves. The original man of steel.

                                                                     (Source)

Because of him, kids grew up flying around with towels pinned to their shoulders and arms outstretched.

Thanks, Reeves. We miss you.

At Insanity's Door

I just spent half an hour listening to Lyrical Latin.
My brain has been turned to mush.

Lyrical Latin is... special. Have you ever listened to those little cheesy kid songs that help you with geography or the planets?
"North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Australia...."
Do you remember how cheesy they were?
With the really bizarre music and how they are trying to make it cool but only make it worse?

That's what Lyrical Latin is like.
I hope someone feels my pain.

Why I....

Should never be left alone with a computer
Have a few hours of nothing to do.
Be left alone in my head.

...I start finding strange things.

Like, did you know, in the new Sherlock Holmes movie, Holmes dresses in drag?
It just totally proves a theory a friend and I have been working on.
Victorian men and high heels.
Oh yeah.

And I'm starting to get the stir crazy writer feeling again. I have the strong urge to go buy a notebook and one of those smooth rolly pens.

And yesterday, since there was no school, I colored a picture and watched an episode from one of my Granada Sherlock Holmes DVDs.
..Yes... I like coloring.
A lot.

But the episode sort of freaked me out.  It was the Devil's Foot  and you sort of have to have read the story to understand it all. But towards the end, Holmes and Watson try this drug called the Devil's foot to prove a case and it was just wacky.
Holmes is like in this dream and he's all running through this field with all these spazzy colors which I at first found hilariously funny, but then there was this fake blood and...

I might have closed my eyes.
Just saying.

So if anyone wants to come color with me and watch scary Sherlock Holmes episodes, give me a call!
I might even share my crayons.
But that's not a promise.

Professor Layton

We all know that I am a bit of a sucker for:
The above clothing style
Professors
Doctors
Anime
And any smart guy who basically fits that category and wears Clark Kent glasses and or suspenders.

...Oh, you didn't know that?
Well then why am I telling you?  Yeesh, now I feel like a complete dork telling you about how that stuff  just about makes my stomach drop.

But guess what I found today?

This Professor Layton video game thingamjig!

It makes me very, very, happy.
Though I hate brain puzzles. Too frustrating.

BUT PROFESSOR LAYTON LOOKS SO COOL!!!
And, it's situated in London, and they have cute voices. I especially love it when Layton says, "My word."
He like breathes it out in this funny accented sigh.

And is it just me, or do you get a Sherlock Holmes vibe from the trailers?
..It's probably just me.

But anyway, here's the trailer, I laughed so hard at the end when they're running away from the ferris wheel.
You have to love animation: his hips are huge.

(Trailer)

My word.

Celebrate!

Hey, guys, sorry I've been neglecting my blog. Life and writing has been crazy.  Here's just a little drabble to start off the new year and celebrate a birthday.

                                                                         (Link)

It's Sherlock Holmes's birthday!! Yay! And to celebrate, I'm sharing my favorite Sherlock Holmes picture with you.  It's by Triumph Forks on deviantart and I just thinks it's awesome.
So happy birthday, Mr. Holmes!
You're ultimate.
